Tanya
My journey in the world of animal training began with horses, as my mother was the head trainer at a local stable. I've been riding horses since I was a toddler, but my passion for dogs emerged during middle school through my involvement with the 4H Dog Project and my Miniature Schnauzer. This early experience ignited a deep interest in dog training, which quickly grew from working with my own dogs to securing a job as a professional trainer. Just as my mother found her calling as a horse instructor, I discovered my passion for dog training, a career I have now pursued for over 20 years.
My Story
My journey with working dogs began in 2004 with my first German Shepherd. She faced many of the behavioral challenges that I now help clients address. Initially, I started with basic training, teaching her simple tricks, but soon found myself delving into behavior modification. The sense of accomplishment I felt after successfully working with her inspired me to assist others dealing with reactive dogs. Witnessing the transformation of dog owners from feeling hopeless to regaining hope and achieving a harmonious life with their pets is incredibly rewarding.
This experience marked the beginning of my specialized focus on working dogs, particularly within German breeds. In 2013, I purchased my first working-line German Shepherd for sports training. By 2014, I earned my first title in IPO, now known as IGP. This accomplishment paved the way for my involvement in bite work, tracking, competitive obedience, AKC sports, and herding. In 2017, I achieved my first Level 3 title in IPO, the highest level in the sport.
Today, I am raising my third Malinois with the goal of competing in French Ring, and I eagerly anticipate the achievements we will accomplish together.
